I think there is merit in customising the layout of the PDF to improve legibility so the benefits of sharing the forms are enhanced. This can be done on a project by project basis if necessary which may have specific issues related to specific forms.
Certain forms when generated as a PDF are disjointed. For example after an outcome (acceptable etc.) is given to a question (is the reinforcement correct? etc.) the next line on the PDF are the images, following that is the comment. The comment is directly related to the outcome so would be better to be directly next to the outcome. In addition often the comments describe the pictures in detail so would be better before the pictures to give the readers foresight of what they are looking at as the annotations may not be able to describe the issue fully. In addition when using medium image sizes they are placed vertically when they are small enough to be side by side. This adds unnecessary length to the report (especially as our reinforcement forms often require numerous pictures) and exacerbates the issue raised above.
It would be beneficial to customise the layout of our PDF forms when generated because we use them to direct the contractor to issues as we cannot give them access via our FieldView area due to security reasons. The feedback from the contractor is that the form layout can be improved to reduce the risk of information being lost.The sooner the better and there is no specific end date as this is aimed at continuous improvement.
