The administration involved in adding users and devices to projects on Field View is not fit for purpose. I appreciate that in the beginning as MCS/Priority1, devices were ‘leased’ and the charging model based on the number of devices used on a project.
But now that it is no longer Priority1 and is Viewpoint Field View, that charging model is no longer used. Given the push to use BIM and collaborative working, access to Field View (and the projects) should be more like Netflix: download the app to a device, log on and you instantly have access to all of the projects that your account has permission for. So I can move from a phone, to a tablet, and then to a new phone instantly via the app. Having to ‘on-board’ devices is a waste of time.

In Answer to Betsie's comment. Yes, use Soti as our MDM platform. One consideration for the developers would be to select which of the projects a user has access to, are synced down to the device. A user may sync multiple projects down to their tablet due to it's increased storage, but only sync their most frequently visited site to their phone as it may have less space.
Hi. Any updates on this would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
Agreed. You should be able to move between devices freely without the need for a new device name every time you want to check out a project.
Can we have an update on this suggestion?
This functionality is a staple of modern application access solutions and should be a priority.
Has there been any update on this suggestion? Its been over 6 months since I logged it. Hoping for some good news...
Agreed, this has been raised many times in the past few years and nothing has been done about it so far, would be great to see this change implemented. It would take the pressure off the system admins who have to create the devices and talk users through how to switch between projects and would speed end users up on site as well.
The current model is definitely an old way of thinking but made sense 10 years ago when projects shared devices. Now everyone has multiple devices of their own that are not shared.
This is similar to my suggestion https://fieldview.ideas.aha.io/ideas/FV-I-584. This needs to be implemented immediately as the current solution is a potential security risk. We use Intune coupled with Android for work for our deployment and the current install, loading solution is very inefficient and blocking our move to a more dynamic, zero touch solution
Yes, our IT Provider (Wipro) currently uses two MDM solutions: Microsoft InTune and Samsung Knox. The former system used on older devices was AirWatch but this will be replaced in the near future with InTune and/or Knox. All apps issued to end-users go through our IT Governance department and are subsequently assessed by our IT Provider. The easier the process is for installing and setting up the apps on devices, the smoother and quicker they are likely to go through internal processes and delivery via MDM without issues.
Issues we’ve faced in the past is the lack of publishing of these apps via the Google Play store, two apps being installed instead of one, and the specific system requirements (i.e., access to camera required, access to storage required, proxy settings, external endpoints for whitelisting etc..).
You are absolutely right. The ability to move across the device you are using should be that easy. The team is researching ways we get evolve from the old ways to adapt to meet expectations. One issue impacted would be how we push out apps to meet the needs of how organizations work. Does your organization use mobile device management? If so, what system are you using?
