Rather than just assigning a random number to forms, during the form set up process include the ability to predetermine a naming convention for the form. This naming convention should match BS1192

Agreed, Where is the Update ?
Any update with this suggestion? We are getting comments from our Site Team not happy with the naming convention when files are being downloaded. Can we customize this in our settings please as per our preference?
Has there been any update on this? It has been 15 months since a dev posted. In a little over three months this post will be four years old. I know Viewpoint has to pick their priorities but if this is no longer being considered than please let people know and close the topic. We need the ability to change the displayed reference number and I do not know why it is so difficult to implement.
Once Viewpoint Team releases forms in the near future, I can see FV forms going by the wayside. FV forms just feel so neglected and outdated. I am sorry for the tone Betsie, but it seems like the majority of suggestions sit around for years before being acknowledged, upped in "status" and sit around for even longer. Is there a community manager on staff that can go around and update/comment, clean up or close topics? If not then one is needed. For what it's worth, the Team Suggestion Box is the same way.

Has there been any movement on this issue? Changing the label to "In Review" because "it is a better label" is not helpful. This issue is now 2 years and 9 months old.

You are right, having a request out there for this long is irritating without getting any follow up from VP. We aim to do better. We have made some personnel changes and Denise and I are going through how we can make FV a better product.
One such theme is forms and improving the name convention is just one area. I've changed the status to "in review" because that is a better label. This request has been associated now with a development epic which simply put, enables you to see the status of this suggestion once it moves to being targeted and under development.
This is proving to be a is big issue with a huge amount of time being wasted renaming forms to make them meaningful and useful. This was reported over 2 years ago and the status still says - NOT YET PLANNED !!!
The sales pitch we were given when purchasing Field View was how well it integrated with 4 Projects but it just doesn't do this in a useful way. Lots of discussions at workshops at the last User Conference but still no movement. Lots of discussions also about new staff but there doesn't seem to be any increase in staff in the software development side. Any update here would be greatly appreciated.
In VfP we detail a BS1192 compliant numbering system.
What needs to be done.
When the pdf is emaild to 4Projects it should have the file name of ‘PN-MCC-A1-01-RC-W-0001.pdf’ with the original template name in the details as meta data.
We use VfP where we have the BS1192 naming convention option switched on, we are unable to use any systems integration as the FieldView file name is non-compliant.
The number auto-running across few different forms in the system, means though not the same form template, but using the same running ID number. It is not flexible enough for further analysis purpose.
This has also been requested by one of our other customers at Ardmore. These forms are moving into VfP and are currently having to be opened and then renamed.
It's absolutely uncomfortable use auto-emailing when have 79 forms (for each location). System sends 79 emails with the same name of attached pdf. Have to open each of these to see whats is inside.
Ability to control the naming of this unique identifier will provide necessary flexibility

While the number is not actually random, its the Field View user ID. followed by the number of forms (tasks) that the user has raised. Still being able to use a BS1192 (or similar) system would be most helpful.
