An expiry notification for permits would make tracking and closure of permits so much easier for all involved within the task/process.

Yes for example take a hot works permit the trade contractor has to carry-out fire watch duties for 1 hour after the permit expires so a notice to all parties signing both on and off a hot works permit would get a notification when the permit expires trigging the sign off ensuring the fire watch is carried out it would also serve in getting all involved into the same location at the same time given notice to sign off the permit on completion.
The expiry date of course is expires the form. Are you asking for the ability to know when a form is going past a date when you expect it to be complete?
