Example: The mechanical sub is given a task to install an access panel in a finished wall. Upon completion the drywall sub needs to point up the wall around the new access panel. The painter then needs to repaint the area affected by the new work.
It can be helpful to the follow up subs to know they have additional work to do in an area in which they previously completed all work, as well as when it's ready for them to proceed. An automatic reassignment to the next sequence of work would be generated as soon as the current one is marked as complete.

Agreed, something that links tasks together with a sequence so that when the first one is completed the package responsible for the next task gets notified, etc.
